I was the webmaster for the Gamma chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi, a national honorary band service fraternity, for roughly 3 terms. In that time, I added more value to the website, which was ignored and outdated for a couple of years. I added content so that members can use the website rather than just a site for outside visitors.
I tried to increase the use of online services as well. I urged committees use the Google calendar we had to plan events better so that there won't be any conflicts between our events and events with our bands. In addition, I coordinated with the service committee chair to make microsites for a couple of service projects.
The website now has information about current Brothers and the alumni. Before, it was a website about the history of the chapter and fratenity. It was fun for the active members to fill out the questionnaire about themselves too. I thought this page would be great for recruiting so that potential members could see who is in the chapter and make the connection when they seem them in person.
I also created a documents section where our documents can be online so that Brothers can view and download them. Documents such as project evaluations and the minutes are sent through email, but most times, never accessed again. I created this section to facilitate members to look back at those documents and be accessible without having to go digging through emails.
Joomla was the current content management system, but was not the best system to work with in my opinion. The website's navigation too was not very intuitive either (or was not as visible). I had my email listed on the main page and I got contacted the most from other chapters outside of the district. Usually the president or secretary are our point of contact that they need to reach, which is on the website under the "Gamma" link.

With the new website, I made sure navigation links were more visible. I changed the color scheme up, making a light website versus the dark one. It still contains the same elements from the old website such as having "Active of the Week" and "Upcoming Events" on the sidebar. The footer has sections and now has a clear spot about contacting the chapter's leaders.
